Mirror Mirror on the wall...

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?
With a little paint, fabric and boa (yes, that's right, a boa) I transformed this mirror into the fairest of all!!
I took a very large oil painting from the 1960's and changed it up several years ago with a brown paper bag treatment. I then used hook and loop, (velcro) to attach picture frames to it. I was getting tired of it and wanted to change it up a little bit. The space for this wall hanging is a dark space so I thought putting a mirror there would reflect some light. I shopped 'til I dropped but couldn't find what I wanted so I made my own.
I just need to finish the top with the boa trim, but other than that it is finished.

BEFORE with brown paper bag treatment....
AFTER..........

You are the fairest of them all!!!!!

Table makeover

I have really been in the mood to change things up in my house. It is probably the nicer weather, but I sure have the redecorating bug!! After looking around my house for a possible victim I chose to paint my end table. It was kind of brown and drab before, so I thought I would try the blue distressed look.

Necklace Holder

Items you will need for this project are:
Frame
Fabric and batting large enough to cover the area
Cork
Decorative knobs
Glue Gun
Cut your cork according to the size of your frame opening. Cut 2 layers of batting the same size. Place your batting side on wrong side of  fabric and cut fabric larger than your cork so you can pull the edges around.Pull fabric tightly and glue in place taking special care at the corners.
Make holes in the back of your cork for decorative knobs. Place your knobs through the holes and poke through fabric. You may need to make a slit in your fabric for the knob to fit through. Put your frame back together and enjoy!!!

To the very edges of your soul

A Memory Hug

My loss has left a hole in my heart.
That hole never goes away...
I learn to live with it.
With acceptance of the loss
And changes in my life,
The pain lessens.
Eventually memories fill up the space.
But it never goes away.
Then, when I least expect it,
A memory spills out
Of the hole in my heart
And washes me clean again with tears.
I think of it as a "MEMORY HUG'.

Chair Re-do

This is a project I worked on last fall. I scored a pair of ugly chairs at the DI and brought them home to work some magic. I call these chairs "A little bit country" and "A little bit rock and roll"!! I primed and painted them and then spray painted them different colors. On the black chair I used faux cow hide fur, and on the pink one I used faux zebra fur. No animals were harmed during the making of this project!!!!

Do you have the time?

Excuse me, do you have the time? I love big clocks. This one is in my living room and measures 55 long x 37 wide. I am often asked "Is your clock big enough?" My living room walls are deep red and the quote on the top of the clock in the window wasn't showing up very well, so I painted the wall (behind the window only) a lighter color to compliment the face of the clock. I bought this clock at a craft boutique, but a crafter with intermediate experience could duplicate this project.

Don't Hibernate, Decorate!!!

The winters are long. We all tend to hibernate to get us through until spring. My solution is to Decorate!  I love it and it takes my mind of other things. Sometimes we get bored with our houses. We feel like our house needs a lift. Winter is a good time to do that. So grab that can of spray paint and go at it! You don't have to spend alot of money. Walk around your house and take pictures of some of the things in your home that you love and post them on your blog. You will fall in love with your house all over again. Here is a picture of one of my favorite things in my living room. These were filled with old fashioned white plastic poinsettias marked down 90% at Christmas time, so I snagged them and added candles. Simple and cheap!
